Trevor Rogers
Trevor Rogers Pulled with toe injury
Fri, Sep 12, 2025, 8:02 PM
Rogers was removed from Friday's game against the Blue Jays with left toe discomfort, Brendan Mortensen of MASNSports.com reports.
Analysis: Rogers made it through five innings Friday while allowing one unearned run on three hits and four walks and struck out six batters before his toe cut his start short. It's currently unknown whether the 27-year-old southpaw will be able to make his next start, but the Orioles may offer an update on his status in the near future.
Jordan Westburg
Jordan Westburg Kicking off rehab assignment
Fri, Sep 12, 2025, 3:33 PM
Westburg (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: It will be Westburg's first game action since he sprained his right ankle back on Aug. 18. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready to return to the Orioles' active roster sometime next week. Emmanuel Rivera has been filling in at third base of late for the O's with Westburg sidelined.
Daniel Johnson
Daniel Johnson Optioned to Triple-A
Fri, Sep 12, 2025, 1:40 PM
The Orioles optioned Johnson to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.
Analysis: He's being sent down to accommodate the return of Tyler O'Neill (wrist). Johnson had made just two starts since being recalled three weeks ago and had yet to start a game in September.
Tyler O'Neill
Tyler O'Neill Back from 10-day injured list
Fri, Sep 12, 2025, 1:37 PM
The Orioles activated O'Neill (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Friday.
Analysis: O'Neill missed the last five-plus weeks with right wrist inflammation but is ready to go after playing three rehab games and homering in his final rehab contest Wednesday at Triple-A Norfolk. Jeremiah Jackson has played well in right field in O'Neill's stead and could become the Orioles' regular third baseman now that O'Neill is back in the fold.
Keegan Akin
Keegan Akin Picks up fifth save
Thu, Sep 11, 2025, 3:33 PM
Akin earned the save in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Pirates, allowing one hit while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.
Analysis: Akin is up to five saves this season, with two coming since the start of September. The left-hander has pitched well of late, working to a 1.88 ERA in his last 12 appearances (14.1 innings). Akin and Yennier Cano should continue to share closing duties down the stretch. Through 57.1 innings this season, Akin sports a 3.14 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 54 strikeouts.
Cade Povich
Cade Povich Solid in no-decision
Thu, Sep 11, 2025, 3:27 PM
Povich did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Pirates, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: After giving up a two-out run in the first inning, Povich managed to hold Pittsburgh to just one additional tally over his final 4.2 frames, which came on an Alexander Canario homer in the third. It's been an up-and-down year overall for Povich, though he's posted a respectable 4.43 ERA in his last eight appearances (40.2 innings) while striking out 45 in that span. Povich is tentatively in line to face the White Sox on the road his next time out.
Tomoyuki Sugano
Tomoyuki Sugano In clear to start Saturday
Thu, Sep 11, 2025, 11:09 AM
Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino confirmed that Sugano (foot) will start Saturday's game against the Blue Jays in Toronto, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: During his most recent start in this past Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers, Sugano was forced out in the top of the fourth inning after being struck on the right foot by a comebacker. Fortunately for the Orioles, the right-hander avoided any fractures on his foot and didn't experience extensive swelling either, putting him on track to make his next start this weekend on his usual five days' rest. Since the All-Star break, Sugano has gone 3-3 with a 4.67 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 37:13 K:BB in 44.1 innings over his nine starts.
Dean Kremer
Dean Kremer Ready for bullpen session Friday
Thu, Sep 11, 2025, 10:38 AM
Kremer (forearm) will throw an extensive bullpen session Friday and could rejoin the Baltimore rotation next week, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Kremer was removed from last Friday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers due to right forearm soreness and had his next turn in the rotation skipped. However, he has recovered well since then and is on track to return next week if he can avoid a setback following Friday's throwing session. The Orioles haven't revealed the target date for Kremer's next start, but he appears to be lined up to take the hill Sept. 18 at home versus the Yankees.
Ryan Mountcastle
Ryan Mountcastle Sitting out Thursday
Thu, Sep 11, 2025, 10:30 AM
Mountcastle is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.
Analysis: Mountcastle will retreat to the bench after starting each of the past seven contests. Coby Mayo is at first base and Samuel Basallo is in the designated-hitter spot Thursday as the Orioles go for the sweep.
Tyler Wells
Tyler Wells Sharp in no-decision Wednesday
Thu, Sep 11, 2025, 8:58 AM
Wells didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Pirates, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: Making his second start since recovering from June 2024 elbow surgery, Wells was locked in, with the only blemish on his line coming from a Spencer Horwitz solo shot in the fourth inning. The right-hander tossed 60 of 89 pitches for strikes, and through 11.2 innings, he sports a 2.31 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 10:1 K:BB. Wells will look to continue a strong finish to 2025 in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week against the White Sox.
Tyler O'Neill
Tyler O'Neill On track to return Friday
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 3:46 PM
O'Neill (wrist) is on track to return from the 10-day injured list Friday in Toronto, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
Analysis: O'Neill has played two rehab games, going 2-for-7 with one strikeout. The veteran outfielder has been sidelined since early August with right wrist inflammation but will be back on the Orioles' active roster in short order, provided he doesn't experience any setbacks.
Emmanuel Rivera
Emmanuel Rivera Sitting after seven straight starts
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 3:19 PM
Rivera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
Analysis: After seeing his eight-game hitting streak come to an end following an 0-for-4 performance in Tuesday's 3-2 win, Rivera will get a breather Wednesday. Jeremiah Jackson will step in at third base in place of Rivera, who had started in each of the last seven games.
Jeremiah Jackson
Jeremiah Jackson Ready to start after elbow scare
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 3:15 PM
Jackson (elbow) will start at third base and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
Analysis: Jackson was lifted for a pinch runner in the bottom of the eighth inning after being hit in the right elbow by a 95.5-mile-per-hour sinker, but he was fortunate to escape with little more than a bruise. The 25-year-old apparently isn't feeling too sore a day later, so he'll occupy his usual spot in the two hole as the Orioles go up against Pirates ace Paul Skenes.
Kyle Bradish
Kyle Bradish Fires seven frames versus Pirates
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 8:26 AM
Bradish allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six over seven innings Tuesday against the Pirates. He did not factor into the decision.
Analysis: The Pirates plated a run in the first versus Bradish and he shut them down from there, allowing just three baserunners the rest of the way. Tuesday was his longest outing in three starts since returning from Tommy John surgery, though a potential win was spoiled after Tommy Pham tied the game up in the ninth with a homer. Nonetheless, Bradish has been magnificent in a short sample size. He owns a 2.65 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 21:4 K:BB in 17 innings and lines up for a favorable start on the road against the White Sox next week.
Jeremiah Jackson
Jeremiah Jackson Exits after HBP
Tue, Sep 9, 2025, 7:44 PM
Jackson was removed from Tuesday's game against the Pirates after getting hit on his right elbow by a pitch, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Jackson took a 95.5-mph pitch off his elbow in the eighth inning and was immediately taken out of the game in favor of a pinch runner. The severity of the outfielder's injury will become clearer once Baltimore's trainers examine him further, but it's possible he sits out a game or two as a precaution.
Samuel Basallo
Samuel Basallo Back in action Tuesday
Tue, Sep 9, 2025, 2:59 PM
Basallo (hand) will start behind the plate Tuesday against the Pirates, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Analysis: The rookie backstop exited Saturday's contest after taking a foul tip on his right hand and was held out of the lineup Sunday after X-rays came back negative, but he's good to go Tuesday following Baltimore's team off day. Basallo has yet to find his footing at the plate through his first 16 big-league games and has a .204/.283/.389 slash line with two homers and nine RBI.
Jordan Westburg
Jordan Westburg Could play rehab games this weekend
Tue, Sep 9, 2025, 2:58 PM
Westburg (ankle) could begin a rehab assignment this weekend, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Previous updates on Westburg's recovery from a right ankle sprain suggested that he was likely to have begun playing in rehab games by now, but while that hasn't happened, it does appear to be around the corner. The infielder could be back on the Orioles' active roster sometime next week. He's been sidelined since late August.
Adley Rutschman
Adley Rutschman Slated for BP this weekend
Tue, Sep 9, 2025, 2:55 PM
Rutschman (oblique) will take batting practice this weekend, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Rutschman began hitting off a tee this past Friday and will take another big step forward with his hitting progression this weekend. It's not clear whether the Orioles will ask him to go out on a rehab assignment, but either way he would seem to have a good shot to be activated from the 10-day injured list at some point next week. Rutschman has been shelved since mid-August with a right oblique strain.
Dean Kremer
Dean Kremer Will play catch again Tuesday
Tue, Sep 9, 2025, 2:52 PM
Kremer (forearm) played catch Sunday and will do so again Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Kremer had to be lifted from his last start against the Dodgers with right forearm soreness. An MRI came back clean, and while he will miss his next turn in the rotation, the hope remains that he could avoid a stint on the 15-day injured list.
Tomoyuki Sugano
Tomoyuki Sugano Expects to make next start
Tue, Sep 9, 2025, 1:53 PM
Sugano said Tuesday that his right foot didn't swell as much as anticipated, and he expects to be ready to make his next scheduled start, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Analysis: Sugano had to be lifted from Sunday's start against the Dodgers after being struck on the foot by a comebacker, but it doesn't sound like the injury will cost him any additional time. The right-hander is tentatively schedule to start Sunday's game in Toronto.
